A time for sharing

What a fabulous month. We had a fascinating talk from 'From Little Acorns'. We learned a lot about managing a woodland using traditional methods - the speaker shared the benefits of the woodland to both wildlife and to people’s personal well-being. He was very engaging with anecdotes, video clips, a plant quiz and items he had made. The hand-made wooden chair was amazingly comfortable – no matter who sat on it! We hope to do a trip to have a look at the woodland later in the year.
This month’s Lunch Club was at our local Chetwode Arms in Pipegate - only a few were able to make it - but the food was tasty, the service great and we had a good catch-up natter sharing our latest news. This included our very own Tracey’s trip to the Garden Party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate her being awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for her work in the community.
The Garden Club has been busy. Earlier in the month, a local couple gave us a guided tour around their garden of over 90 species of trees. They shared their tips on gardening and garden design. What came across most, as well as their knowledge, was their passion and dedication. The weather was kind and we enjoyed coffee, tea, cake a biscuits after the fascinating tour.
Later in the month the Garden Club did a visit and troubleshooting session to support improving our own gardens. Great tips were shared.
The busy club also held a stall at our local Standon and Cotes Heath Village Plant and Cream Tea Sale. Members had donated plants and it was a sell-out! As well as raising funds we met lots of interesting people. It was lovely to see our community, and people from beyond, come together talk plants and gardens and get some bargains. Look out for the planter that the WI have planted up with some of the plants, it will be in front of our village hall for all to enjoy.,
Our craft group continue to meet and shared some of their crafts at the Annual General Meeting of the Village Hall along with a poster of our WI achievements.
Finally, we are looking forward to a bit of Needle Felting at our next meeting and to our Canal Boat Trip and Fish and Chips in July.
