Eating and talking with friends

June and July brought us together with a boat trip along the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal on a Georgie's Canal Cruise from Penkridge. The trip was opened up to partners and friends. We had a lovely fish and chip supper as we travelled along, waving at the fairy tale scene of fabulously dressed teenagers at their school prom at the the back of the Moat House, Acton Trussell. We had lots of laughs and good conversation on what was a hot, hot evening! . Thanks, Tracey for organising it.

In July we met again with the Lunch Club - this time it was an evening meal which meant that those with jobs in the day could also join us. Lovely meal, great company and super conversation. Thanks, Annie.

Sandy led the Book Club discussion on 'Long Island' by Colm Toibin. Not everyone had read it, some really enjoyed it and recognised it as a sequal to Brooklyn and wanted to read the third book in the trilogy to find out what happened when the baby was born. Others had a few problems with the genre and percieved it as too slow a pace. Looking forward to our next read 'The Nightingale' by Kristin Hannah.

Our next event is our fundraising Fashion Show on 8th September, 7pm at Cotes Heath and Standon Village Hall. Tickets from Lyn (see flyer above).
