June and July brought us together with a boat trip along the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal on a Georgie's Canal Cruise from Penkridge. The trip was opened up to partners and friends. We had a lovely fish and chip supper as we travelled along, waving at the fairy tale scene of fabulously dressed teenagers at their school prom at the the back of the Moat House, Acton Trussell. What a busy month June was! We began with our monthly meeting - a taster session on Needle Felting led by a local ‘Needle Felter’ and WI champion, Sue. It was a surprisingly simple technique and we celebrated our creativity producing a variety of amazing examples. Our very own crafters met at Craft Club and practiced their origami skills to make beautiful flowers. What a fabulous month. We had a fascinating talk from 'From Little Acorns'. We learned a lot about managing a woodland using traditional methods - the speaker shared the benefits of the woodland to both wildlife and to people’s personal well-being. He was very engaging with anecdotes, video clips, a plant quiz and items he had made. The hand-made wooden chair was amazingly comfortable – no matter who sat on it!
