A busy month, our very own Jo taught us to make paper Christmas decorations for the Church Christmas Tree Festival and Sarah gave us a great start on how to make our own Christmas wreaths – they were all so different – what a creative bunch!
We continue with our 'almost' weekly Chair Yoga, fortnightly local walks, monthly craft groups and six weekly book club and lunch club meets. Our current read ‘Where the Crawdads Sing ' – seems to have people engrossed – even those that have read it before! Lunch club was very local – at the Royal Oak, Eccleshall – lovely atmosphere, great food and good chat. Thanks for organising, Annie! Our crafters continue to challenge themselves with new crafts.
Members who have been to the wider WI events of a craft day and 'It’s Christmas' at the County Showground thoroughly enjoyed gaining new knowledge and skills from Will Kirk (The Repair Ship) – not so local but very talented - to Perry’s Field to Fork from Eccleshall.
The theatre visit to watch the famous local orginal 'Eric' in ‘Eric-and the Full Monty’ proved to be a lot of fun, with a chance to do a bit of a sing-a-long. We exercised our vocal chords further singing a range of carols at the Christmas Tree Festival in Standon Church. It was magical with the battery-powered Christmas Tree lights despite the stormy weather and subsequent power cut.
Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas. We hope to see you in and around Standon over the Christmas break, and see you on the 7th January for our first meeting, bringing in another year of exciting opportunities. To come - reflecting on what the WI stands for with cheese and wine, learning about Hearing Dogs and a whole new programme for 2025.
